Sliver of Truth: A Novel Review

Although this book could stand on its own, it is much better if you read Beautiful Lies, the first of the two, before this one.

Riley has gone through a lot after finding out about Project Rescue and it is having an effect on both her and her relationships, particularly with her parents and Jake, someone she believes is a Project Rescue baby. But not all things are what they seem, and the "ghost" of her Uncle Max puts her in danger. The revelations that come out at the end are somewhat surprising, and you really start to feel for poor Riley and also wonder who she can trust and who she cannot.

I thoroughly enjoyed Beautiful Lies and was equally enthralled with Sliver of Truth. It held my attention from start to finish, and gave me a couple of surprises too. There are a few things that I found "bothersome" but not enough to take away from the suspense and excitement of the plot and what Riley goes through. I do like the way Lisa Unger writes her characters, especially Riley.

Again, read Beautiful Lies first as although certain things are "explained" in Sliver, it is better understood with the first book read

Sliver of Truth: A Novel Overview

The highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Lies.

Charged with relentless intensity and kinetic action, and playing out with unnerving suspense on the streets of New York and London, Sliver of Truth delves deep into the shadowy world of Ridley Jones, a terrified but determined young woman at once hunting down a ghost from her past and running for her life.

Good, but could've been better. - KadyH -
I really enjoyed this, though there were a few things that really bugged me. Like the way the author uses the word crumble in place of the word crumple. She does this in Beautiful Lies, too. Also don't understand why Ridley just accepts that Max is her father with no evidence other than him saying so. Someone else claimed to be her father, too, and there was no reason for her or the readers to think he wasn't. Between that and the other unanswered questions from the first book, I could've been a lot more satisfied with this book. That being said, it was a good read once it got going, though I don't know if I'd recommend buying it at full price.

disappointment - reader 66 - OREGON, US
This book was a huge disappointment. I am not sure why Lisa Unger chose to dump the character Jake and create a new guy for this book. It just made the storyline confusing and flat. Maybe she should bring back Jake and the romance in another book. Not a fun read.

Wish I could write like this chick! - Tammy Umholtz - USA
I read this one a long time ago but just finished "Black Out" tonight. Reminded me how talented she is. "Black Out" is actually her best but read them all! (No, I am not her mom or sister.)

Fast shipping! - Manpreet Dhaliwal - Houston, TX
I just have to say that this was fast shipping! I ordered about 6 other items from various sellers on the same day and this was the first item I got! Thank you so much. And I will definitely be ordering more in the future!
